Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza (1-25-11)

Some people will always see the glass as half full. They're so annoying.

Jeremy writes: No, I don’t know what Kagami sees in Fuyo, either. But then, Kagami is the type who can see the good in everybody... even when it’s not really there!

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, By Jeremy Rizza (12-09-10)

It's always a little touchy meeting someone your friend is dating for the first time. Will you like them? Will they like you? Will they be a ghastly, inhuman, ice creature from old world mythology? It's all so confusing. Cookie the Banshee also makes a cameo this week.

Jeremy writes: "Rorik first encountered Cookie the Banshee in the 12/28/09 strip.  His reaction was a tad different, to say the least."

Visit VikingZombieBoyfriend.com for previous strips, character back stories and just the right holiday gift. Jeremy has put together a really great variety of hats, mugs and shirts emblazoned with the VZB logo and the likenesses of Dill and Rorik. Check it out and help support a really talented artist from our own community.

PS,
Loving the new logo Jeremy!

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, By Jeremy Rizza (12-02-10)

As Holiday Madness takes hold of the world, humanoids everywhere are digging through their CD racks looking for just the right music to create a festive mood. For me, it's the Kinks' "Father Christmas (Give Us Some Money!)".

For Dill, it's the dulcet tones of his favorite Hollywood semi-living legend Osmunda Haines.

Jeremy writes: Hey, I had to show the actual CD cover! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to draw Osmunda in another horrifying cheesecake pose! (And as you can see by her “extended dance mix,” Osmunda is smart enough to cater to her steadfast gay audience.)

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, By Jeremy Rizza (11-10-10)

When we last saw our heroes, Dill was tending to his friend Sticky, who had gotten into a bar fight while performing his drag routine. I hate it when that happens. Er... I mean I would hate that if... oh never mind . It turns out all the drama and trauma was over latin hottie, Paco.

Jeremy writes: "You want Paco? You got Paco! Next week, Rorik helps him prep for his date with 'legendary' daddybear Felix Cadbury.  (Sorry, Sticky, but you’re not the kid’s type.)

The permanent page of this week’s strip is here."

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, By Jeremy Rizza (10-12-10)

VZB continues a very gay Vampire Month . A little adult stuff towards the end. It's all good fun, but maybe not so much at work. Give the kids some Benadryl and enjoy.

A word from the artist:

"This one was literally inspired by a flatbed truck with a bunch of pallets stacked precariously on the back, putting me and my midsize Kia in fear of our very lives.  From there, I concocted a Rex-and-Paco strip about twenty-something apathy and lethargy.  But of course, the final version needed a vampire."

Next week: Alexandru pays a secret visit to DeLugg’s house!"

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, By Jeremy Rizza (09-14-10)

Every small town has it's claim to fame. Roanoke can claim Wayne "Mr. Las Vegas" Newton as a native son and there are people here that still remember when Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds lived here after marrying a local man, who promptly stole all her money.

Dill's home town's claim to fame is that a movie musical was filmed there back in the day. He never misses an opportunity to watch it, much to Rorik's annoyance.

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, By Jeremy Rizza (08-24-10)

Like most bears, Rorik prides himself on his ability to grow a lot of facial hair. There's nothing shocking about that, but this is Rorik and more is always better. Sorry, no adult content this week.

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza (08-16-10)

This week Paco learns the crucial life lesson that there are times during your quest for Mr. Right that you have to settle for Mr. Right Now.

Blah, blah, blah, adult content, blah, blah blah.

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza (08-03-10)

As Paco continues his first adventure at the bear bar, he learns the age old lesson that there are times in life when, if you're very still, you can hear that little voice inside telling you what to do. Sometimes that little voice is coming from your pants.

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza (7-20-10)

This week: After some coaching from Rorik, Paco flies solo at the local bear bar.

FYI, I don't believe in censorship, especially on the web and on this site in particular. Having said that, you should know that VZB is not your meemaw's "Betty and Veronica" type comic strip. It is drawn, written and intended for grown ups and uses big boy language and sometimes depicts big boys doing big boy things.

I only include the above because I know that some readers subscribe to the site via e-mail and may be viewing it at work or someplace where crumb-crunchers and cookie-crumblers are running around and deserve the courtesy of a warning.

Thanks for your support!

Wondering what happened to Viking Zombie Boyfriend?

You may have noticed that Viking Zombie Boyfriend hasn't appeared in it's regular Tuesday spot for a couple of weeks. Apparently there have been some technical problems that are being worked on. There have been times when the strip has been delayed for one reason or another. I usually just post is as soon as it's available and I'll that this time as well. Artist Jeremy Rizza posted the following message on his site last week:

6/14/10: Rizza Cartoon Studios (a.k.a. my condo) had some minor flooding last night.  It got under the carpet, so when I stepped anywhere there were fun squishing noises and huge wet spots would appear.  So this week’s strip is going to be delayed for a few days while I clean up the mess! What do you have to look forward to, eventually? Well, there’s three more strips down the pike dealing with Rorik’s friendship with Kagami, including a creative “punishment” he comes up with to pay Dill back for hounding him about it.  And in July? More Paco!

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza 06-10-10

This week's VZB is a little late, but better late than never.

When I was a kid, my parents were always trying to fix me up with friends they thought I'd like. I always complained and said I didn't like whoever it was they introduced me to. That's sort of the way it is with Rorik and Kagami.

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza 06-01-10

Jeremy writes, "The last time I went to a gimmicky Japanese steakhouse, I took one look at the bombastic chef, thought of Rorik and then the strip wrote itself."

"It’s nice to see Rex again, isn’t it? I haven’t used Rex much lately, but he’ll get more to do in the upcoming months.  Good ol’ Rex...!"

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza 05-11-10

My brother's hair looked a lot like Paco's during the summer of '72. My sister used to cut our hair  when we were growing up and she decided to test a new hair highlighter spray called "Sun In" on my older brother before she tried it on herself. You sprayed it on your hair then sat in the sun to activate it.

All the neighborhood girls loved it. What can I say? It was the 70's.

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza (4-27-10)

Rorik and Dill reflect on a Sticky situation.

Jeremy writes:
"My original idea for Sticky’s dislike of Rorik was a convoluted story involving Rorik throwing a tantrum at a dentist office where Sticky worked as a receptionist, and it made so little sense that I finally scrapped it and went with Rorik sucker-punching Sticky in the face.  It’s so much more eloquent that way."

Viking Zombie Boyfriend, by Jeremy Rizza 04-20-10

Rorik is back to his gig as a street performer. The beauty of being your own boss is that you get to make you own rules. The rule that comes to mind here is "the customer is always right, just not right now."

Jeremy writes: "It wouldn’t be until weeks later that Rorik would realize he was being cruised.

I really do love “They Call the Wind Mariah”, by the way.  At least, I do when opera bear Bryn Terfel is singing it.  I get chills, man.

Chills."
