Lady Gaga's New DADT Message to Senators: "Will you keep your word?" (Video)

Lady Gaga's latest video is making news around the world, but not for breaking new ground musically or for her butcher shop fashion sense. Monday night, on the eve of the release of the much-anticipated troop survey on the effects of getting rid of the discriminatory policy, Gaga is once again calling on our leaders to lead.

In the black and white video, which appears to have been shot in her dressing room, Gaga tells her little monsters, "Right now, we're looking at tomorrow [Tuesday] being a very important day for you guys all to really be paying attention."

The pop diva has teamed up with Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) in an effort to launch a major last minute push for repeal during the current lame duck session. "Senators you have been put on notice by me and by the people of this country. You said you would debate and address this law when the Pentagon returned with a strategy and tomorrow morning you will have. Will you keep your word?"

SLDN has posted an instructional video, along with a sample script, to encourage all of us to call our elected reps in the senate to tell them DADT has got to go:

Call the Senate switchboard today.

(202) 224-3121

Example script for your call:

"Hello, my name is ______ and I’m a constituent from __________ (city, state).

I’m calling to tell Senator _______ to prioritize the defense bill with “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal included during the lame-duck session. Fight back against Senator John McCain’s opposition and please vote for DADT repeal this year.

Thank you.”

So all you queer Virginians better get on the phone today and tell Senator Mark Warner and Senator Jim Webb, who both said they wanted to wait for the survey results before making up their minds about DADT repeal, to get on board with Senators Reid and Levin ~ and over 70% of the American people ~ and get rid of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. If you live outside of Virginia and don't know who your U.S. senators are, you can find a list of them here on the Senate web site.

Gaga Rallies in Maine as Senate Prepares to Vote on DADT (video)

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) hits the Senate today for a vote on cloture, a procedure that puts a time limit on debate over legislation. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is hoping to avoid a Republican filibuster over the inclusion on language in the bill which would repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT).

Even without the DADT repeal language, NDAA faces some tough obstacles. The bill includes $500 million in funding for a controversial jet engine that nobody, including the president, wants to fund. If the vote does not take place before the November elections, then it it not likely to happen until next year. Support is still too close to call. The 60 votes needed to avoid a filibuster may not be there.

Lady Gaga appeared at a rally Monday in Portland, Maine, called 4THE14K, referring to the 14 thousand service men and women dismissed under DADT since it became law in 1993. The bisexual pop diva addressed a a crowd estimated at 2,000 in an effort to get moderate Republican Maine senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins to commit to crossing the aisle and voting for repeal. The two have indicated in the past that they would support overturning the discriminatory policy, but now may be waffling.

It's not too late to get involved. Call your senators today and tell them to support the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. The number for the congressional switchboard in DC is 202-224-3121.

Lady Gaga Holding Rally in Maine Today for DADT Repeal (video)

Pop sensation and LGBT rights activist Lady Gaga will hold a rally calling for the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell this afternoon in Portland, Maine. Gaga tweated to her 6 million fans yesterday,  “Meet me in Portland, Maine 2moro to help repeal #DADT. I'm holding a Rally + speaking live in Deering Oaks Park.”

The pop singer, who swept the MTV Video Music Awards last week is working with Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) in their home stretch push for repeal during this legislative session. Gaga, who attended the VMA's with four gay and lesbian former service members who were fired or quit because of DADT, released a video late last week calling on all of us to call our senators today at 202-224-3121 and tell them support full repeal.

SLDN's partnership with Gaga appears to be working. After her appearance on the "Ellen" show, where she encouraged viewers to visit the SLDN website, the organization reported over 107,000 hits.

The senate is scheduled to vote on the Defense Authorization Bill this week. The bill includes language for repealing the 17-year-old policy banning open service by gay, lesbian and bisexual service members. Sen. John "Grumpy Old Man" McCain has vowed to do whatever it takes to block repeal.
Make the call today: 202-224-3121.

Lady Gaga Sweeps MTV Video Music Awards (Video)

I did something I never do any more last night. I watched the annual MTV Video Music Awards (VMA's) for the first time in years. I guess I'm getting older, because I have to admit that I've never heard of half the nominees, but I'm a big fan of comedian Chelsea Handler, who hosted the show, so I decided I couldn't miss it.

Chelsea made her grand entrance by being lowered from the 60-foot high ceiling onto the stage wearing a costume designed as a tribute to Lady Gag, complete with a head-dress shaped like a house. The garage door opened to reveal the blond funny lady's face. She also released a dove from somewhere around her waste.

MTV pulled out all the stops with this show and it was well worth watching. Lady Gaga swept the awards, picking up eight Moon Man trophies, including one for Video of the Year for "Bad Romance", which was presented by Cher in her signature 80's look, a unitard, leather jacket and big hair. Not bad for 64 years old! Gaga used the awards ceremony to make a statement about DADT repeal. She was accompanied by four former service members who were booted out under the discriminatory policy.

Here's a clip of last night's highlights, via the Associated Press.

Hilarious Lady Gaga "Fernando" parody: "You're a Homo" by Sherry Vine (music video)

I found this Lady Gaga parody video on at PinkBananaWorld.com. If you're a closeted, anti-gay politician like Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Rep. David Dreier (R-CA) , former Senator Larry Craig, Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL), to name just a few, you deserve to be outed by any means necessary!

You can check out Sherry Vine's other video parodies at her site www.SherryVine.com.

Warning: Some of the content at SheryVine.com is not suitable for work, children, small pets or uptight, holier-than-thou, right-wing assholes who might be offended by seeing depictions of anything outside the scope of their own tunnel vision.

Music Video: "Alejandro", by Lady Gaga

"Alejandro", the latest video from Lady Gaga, features all the artsy-fartsy, over-the-top imagery you've come to expect. Lots of scantily-clad men gyrating with the pop diva and each other and some religious symbolism that's been compared to Madonna's blasphemous classic "Like a Prayer" could make this NSFW (not suitable for work).

I'm all in favor of pushing the envelope, the use of homoerotic imagery and a healthy dose of nose-thumbing at the church, but what's with all the Moe Howard haircuts?

Enjoy!

Ex Sues Lady Gaga for $35 Million

It was bound to happen. As soon as a woman in show biz makes it big, the ex turns up claiming credit for all of it. CNN reports this morning that Lady Gaga's (real name Stefani Germanotta) ex-boyfriend/ex-manager Rob Fusari is suing the pop diva for $35 million claiming that he invented her name, her sound and look and co-wrote and produced songs on her debut album, including "Paparazzi" and "The Fame"
From CNN:
The story starts with 20-year-old Germanotta riding a bus from Manhattan to Fusari's studio in Parsippany, New Jersey, to work on music in the spring of 2006. "Fusari was expecting someone a little more grunge-rocker than the young Italian girl 'guidette' that arrived at his doorstep and was worried that he had made a mistake," the court papers said.
"Fusari then asked her to play one of her songs on the studio piano and within seconds, (he) realized that Germanotta had star potential. The trick would be coaxing it out of her."
While Fusari thought Germanotta's songs were brilliant, they lacked commercial appeal, the suit said. "He pushed her to explore different musical genres," it said.
"Over the course of the next several months, Germanotta commuted from New York to Jersey seven days a week, radically reshaping her approach. They put their focus on writing music and finding a sound for her." Fusari takes credit for convincing her "to abandon rock riffs and add dance beats. He demonstrated how the sound of a drum machine would not hurt the integrity of her music."

"Telephone", Starring Beyonce and Lady Gaga (music video)

I can't think of  better way to cap off a week of douche bag Virginia politicians getting smacked down by thousands of angry LGBT college students and their supporters rallying on college campuses and marching through the streets of Richmond, than with a new music video featuring the fiercest diva duet since Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer teamed up for "Enough is Enough." three decades ago. (How's that for a run-on sentence?)

The Pairing of Beyonce and Lady Gaga for "Telephone" has been the most talked about and anticipated project since Britney grew her hair back.

This is a surreal combination of Thelma and Louise and 1950's lesbian prison pulp novels, with Beyonce going for an over the top Bettie Page look and Gaga, well, being Gaga. Possibly not suitable for work, due to some small flashes of flesh and Virgin Mobile product placement, but what else would you expect with these two. Enjoy!

Cyndi and Gaga talk AIDS Awareness with Hoda and Al (video)

NEW YORK - FEBRUARY 10: (L-R) Lady Gaga, Pre...Image by Getty Images via Daylife
Yesterday's Today with Hoda and Kathy Lee was the best show they've ever done for two reasons; Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga guested to promote their new MAC campaign and HIV/AIDS awareness.

The other reason was that Kathy Lee was not there. She didn't want to risk getting stuck at work and missing her upcoming vacation. I knew there had to be an up side to all this snow. The two went off script for a little while, talking about awards, fans and fame. Gaga talked about performing with Elton at the Grammies and Cyndi even gave some motherly advice to the new pop diva.

Celebrity News: GaGa Takes on Homophobe, Cher and Christina turn Costar Gay, Elton helps Eminem go straight

Gaga performing on the Fame Ball tourImage via Wikipedia
The National Enquirer reported last week that after a performance at a club in Ottawa, Lady GaGa was dancing in the crowd during the after party and was approached by a drunk who proceeded to deride the diva about her friendship with out American Idol alum Adam Lambert.

According to the Enquirer,
"Partying with pals at Ottawa club Barrymore’s after a concert, Lady G rolled her eyes when a knuckle-dragging Canuck staggered up and belched beerily in her face: “I saw you and ADAM LAMBERT on the AMA show, and the guy’s a flaming faggot – and I also think that you’re actually a MAN!”

Playing it cool and amused, Lady Gaga retorted: “Well, that’s your opinion, isn’t it? And I’m not about to waste my time trying to change it.”

Slurred the slob: “Well, don’t you care that you’re both going to HELL!” Gibed Gaga: “No...not as long as I don’t have to see YOUR face there!” Red-faced, Barfly bellowed: “WELL, YOU’RE A FREAK...AND SO IS HE!”

Her Ladyship’s face twisted in a mask of rage as she snarled: “Okay, that’s it! Call ME anything you want, but when you start calling my friends names, it’s OVER – it’s WAR!”

Swift as a striking snake, she suddenly whipped her glass of water right in Crocked Canuck’s kisser – and the whole bar cheered wildly. Before the creep could react, Gaga snapped her fingers and flounced out of the joint with her jeering entourage in tow."

This just in from Advocate.com:

Sharing the screen with Christina Aguilera and Cher is enough to bring out the gay in anyone. The big-voiced divas didn’t send some gay fanboy into a tailspin on the set of their new movie, but they may well have made costar Kristen Bell question her sexual orientation.
"I have never felt so much good female energy around me," Bell told the New York Post. "I find that I can't take my eyes off them. I'm 99 percent sure I will leave this movie a lesbian."

Bell costars with Cher and Aguilera in Burlesque, the story of a small-town girl who comes to Los Angeles and makes it as an erotic dancer, due in theaters next fall.

From the Huffington Post, we hear that Sir Elton is helping rapper, homophobe and all-around douche bag Eminem go straight:

LONDON — Elton John says he has been helping American rapper Eminen fight drug problems for more than a year.
John says Eminem is succeeding in his well-publicized battle against substance abuse.

John told BBC Radio Saturday that as a recovered drug abuser he is happy to help people if they want the assistance but drugs make people so cocky and arrogant that they often reject help.

Eminem has written about his substance abuse problems in the past.

"God hates Gaga"

Gaga performing "Paparazzi" on the F...Image via Wikipedia
What better way to celebrate the birth of your lord and savior than to point out yet another person that he hates? Those wacky folks at Westboro Baptist are at it again. This time they've decided they need to save the world from Lady Gaga. Yes, that's right. The Phelps klan is taking aim at the pop diva because of her support for LGBT equality and have promised to picket her concerts.

PinkNews reports:
The Kansas-based church, best known for its slogan of God Hates Fags, said in a press release it would protest outside a St Louis concert on January 7th.

Calling her a "sleazy God-hater", the church said: "'Art' and 'fashion' are the euphemisms, the guise under which proud whore Lady Gaga teaches rebellion against God."

Gaga has frequently spoken of her love for her gay fans and thanked them for their support.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, daughter of church leader Fred Phelps, told Radar Online: "We will be going to her concert with placards reading 'God Hates Lady Gaga' – to inform people that they will be going to hell too if they listen to her messages.

“According to the Bible homosexuality is an abomination and she has to shut her filthy mouth and stop promoting it.”

Lady GaGa, "Bad Romance" (music video)

Okay, I don't usually go all pop music on your asses, but I love me some Lady GaGa. To a lot of folks, she may be just the latest Madonna wanna-be, but Madge's bloom has been off the rose for years. It's time for her to move into the Old Cougars Home and let the next generation take the spotlight (and I don't mean Twitny Spears).
